Proof: 110
Mash bill: 72% corn, 18% rye, and 10% malted barley finished in port wine barrels
Tasting notes: Fresh flapjacks and maple syrup all over the nose. Sweet and fragrant with plum, cherry, and cranberry fruits, but then lingering with sweet cinnamon buttery and this lovely tequila-like pepperiness. Beautiful.
The palate is a pleasant balance of warm oak and deep fruitiness. The proof is perfect – easy on the tongue with a comfortable amount of spice. There’s a vanilla creaminess, but more mulled wine continuing on.
The finish is long lasting, trailing with dense fruit as the spices continue to grow more prominent, but never too much, well into the long finish.
